Waterway Park is a boater’s delight with expanded access to Florida’s beautiful Intracoastal
Our team provided planning, design, and permitting for Waterway Park, a 15-acre park in northeast Palm Beach County located on the Intracoastal Waterway. The project included adding three much-needed boat ramps, a launch basin, a fishing pier with overlook, a restroom building, 52 boat trailer parking spaces, and 20 additional parking spaces. We also provided seawall and erosion restoration measures, roadway and utility infrastructure upgrades, and mitigation areas for mangrove, seagrasses, and gopher tortoise habitat.
The project had challenging access and environmental permitting issues, including requiring a full environmental resource permit through South Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and Army Corps of Engineers. And, the project required final approval from the Coast Guard. Our team led these complicated permitting efforts, and achieved them all—and on time!.
However, even more critical to the project’s success was coordination with the adjacent property owners Home Owner’s Association, which needed to approve the project prior to design because of joint access issues. In the end, the project was approved, permitting was successful, and the community is pleased to have another location to access the beautiful Intracoastal.
