Presenting the students, faculty, and visitors of UMass with a peaceful and impressive campus

This new building  underscores the University's strengthening role in the science community. Its state-of-the-art research and educational spaces will attract elite scientists and medical students to the Commonwealth campus and reaffirm the Massachusetts’ global reputation in the field of science.

Understanding how important first impressions are, we took a visitor's first experience with the campus very seriously, carefully designing the approach – whether by car or no foot – to reinforce the building’s significance as the heart of the medical campus.

From traffic improvements, drop-off areas, and the parking garage site to pedestrian entry plazas, walkways, and service courts, getting to, from, and around the Sherman Center is efficient and smooth. Through careful and sensitive planning and design, the landscaping and new site amenities blend seamlessly into the look of the new building and the context of the existing campus, presenting its students, faculty, and visitors with a peaceful, beautiful, impressive campus.
