New first-year student housing in downtown Denver

Faced with rapid growth of the student population and increased housing demand, University of Colorado (CU) Denver turned to our team for help. Together with JE Dunn, our design-build contracting partner, we designed a new student housing facility to support academics and research, place an emphasis on student life, and improve connections to the vibrant city that surrounds it. Located along the central corridor of Larimer, City Heights Residence Hall plays an important role in continuing the connection and activation of campus life to downtown Denver.

City Heights Residence Hall represents an exciting time of life for incoming freshmen and is a contribution to the CU Denver community that nurtures student success by providing an environment that is healthy, vibrant, and supportive for students to live, learn, and thrive. This project’s location in the heart of the CU neighborhood also means that it has an outsized impact on the broader fabric of campus life, delivering a 24-hour population to what was once a commuter campus, and introducing community building and student-centric co-curricular experiences through its integrated dining and student services components.

The LEED Gold certified facility is designed with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency, well-being, water conservation, and ecological sustainability.
