Taking steps to improve the experience on campus
Our team served as the commissioning authority in support of the LEED energy and atmosphere prerequisite for the construction of a mixed-use student center at Clarkson University’s main campus in Potsdam, New York.
The building is comprised of three stories and serves as a student and faculty meeting, dining, and administrative facility. Evaluation of indoor air quality (IAQ) during the construction period and prior to occupancy was a large priority for our team, and each site visit included a review of current IAQ practices and remediation procedures. The project schedule was important to the University due to high profile location and potential usage for the campus, and we worked with the construction team to efficiently execute the commissioning tasks while limiting the effect on the construction schedule. Systems and equipment that our team provided services on included air handling units, kitchen exhaust, chiller, pumps, boilers, blower coil units, split systems, and lighting controls. We also assisted with panelboards, switchgear, emergency lighting, sewage ejector, sump pumps, steam sterilizer, fire systems, and the building security system.
Now complete, this project provides the students and staff of Clarkson University up-to-date ancillary spaces that greatly improve campus life.
