A center for rehabilitation at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center
Santa Clara Valley Medical Center is the designated regional trauma center, burn center, and spinal cord injury center. The new 280 bed Patient Bed Building I and Rehabilitation Center houses the Center of Excellence for rehabilitation in spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries. The new center advances Santa Clara's excellence in spinal cord and brain injury care with a separate unit for each population. Included in the new facility will be inpatient and outpatient full rehabilitation therapy for traumatic brain injury and spinal cord, aquatics, intensive care unit, acute care, pharmacy, cafeteria, conference center, and general medical and surgical beds for special procedures.
Santa Clara Valley Medical Center has a strong commitment to sustainability and Patient Bed Building I is designed to be among the highest performers in healthcare with respect to energy consumption, water consumption, low impact site design, healthy and green materials, and excellent indoor environmental quality. This project anticipates a very high level of LEED Gold certification, with a 42 percent energy savings over California's Title 24 Savings By Design baseline.
