Our environmental assessment expertise ensures a power from solar project treads lightly on the land.

The lights on the quaint main street of Ridgley Tennessee (population 1,800) could be powered by electricity provided by a nearby solar generating farm covering more than 2,000 acres. Responding to customers’ desire for more renewable energy sources, the Ridgely Energy Farm Solar Project is expected to generate up to 177 megawatts.

But before anyone can flip the switch to “on,” our client asked for our expertise to complete an environmental critical issues analysis, create a permit matrix, complete a listed species review, conduct a cultural resources literature review, and conduct a formal wetland and waters of the United States delineation on the site. Our staff also completed an Approved Jurisdictional Determination with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (Memphis District) under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. In addition, we also completed a state waters hydrologic determination.

With our expertise in the spectrum of environmental assessments for energy projects, we were able to provide the Tennessee Valley Authority with the required Natural Resources Reports leading to a Finding of No Significant Impact for the project.
