Our $23.5M design includes a multi-use trail with extensive architectural and landscaping features
Martin’s Point Bridge is a 1,300 foot bridge spanning the Presumpscot River and connecting Falmouth to Portland, the largest city in Maine. The high-traffic bridge crosses over a tidal area with a navigation channel enabling recreational boats to pass through.
With geotechnical challenges such as seismic liquefaction potential, the bridge structure was constructed of precast, prestressed New England bulb tee concrete girders founded on steel pipe pile bents with integral bent caps. The $23.5 million winning design included a 10-foot-wide multi-use trail with extensive architectural and landscaping features.
We supported the MaineDOT as the owner’s engineer throughout design and construction. Our team assisted the client with the design procurement process, provided independent design review, and construction support services. Stantec was involved in the highway, bridge, environmental, landscaping, and street lighting aspects of the project.
