Harnessing data to improve asset performance and longevity
The Manatee County Utilities Department provides water and wastewater services to over 320,000 residents in unincorporated portions of Manatee County and neighboring municipalities. To deliver on their goal of “always on, always safe, always affordable,” the County engaged us to find and implement a solution that would improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and extend the lifespan of equipment and assets.
Partnered with CentralSquare Technologies and a core team within the Department, we set out to implement a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). To provide a smooth and prompt application, our team focused on a ready-made digital solution that would fit with the Department’s existing asset management processes. Crucial milestones throughout the process included geographic information system (GIS) interface and integration, software configuration, data conversion and migration, system integrations, core team training, and system rollout support.
The new CMMS creates a central hub for managing maintenance activities, capturing billing information, and supporting regulatory reporting requirements. It helps organize, plan, track, and optimize these processes. Our work has also helped streamline field crew business processes by integrating the Department’s GIS, financial, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
As the Manatee County Utilities Department adapts to meet future challenges, the new CMMS system will help them deliver services efficiently and at a fair rate.
