Claremont Municipal Airport Runway 11-29 Rehabilitation
In the City of Claremont’s municipal airport, an aging runway needed some repair work. Looking to enhance safety and comply with current U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements, the City engaged us to provide design and construction services to rehabilitate Runway 11-29. A repaved surface, better drainage, and new lighting and electrical were in order.
Construction included partial depth rehabilitation of the runway and drainage improvements. We replaced existing electrical infrastructure—installing medium intensity runway edge lighting, guidance signage, and cabling. Other aspects of the project included new pavement markings on the runway surface and eliminating pavement beyond the 75-foot (23-metre) runway width. Working to improve drainage performance while simultaneously minimizing impacts of ground disturbances, we installed ultraviolet (UV) cured lining of drainage infrastructure and limited removal and replacement of existing storm drain lines with pipes of the same size and slopes.
By eliminating potentially dangerous foreign object debris (FOD) from aging pavements and improving drainage, our client can count on enhanced runway safety for airport users on Runway 11-29.
