As part of a $1 billion system-wide strategic facilities master plan, Atrium Health is transforming their Pineville Campus.
Atrium Health (formerly Carolina’s HealthCare System) needed management for their Pineville Bed Tower expansion project, the first project to roll out of their strategic facilities master plan. As their partners since 2005, our team—the same team that worked on the original Pineville Bed Tower—was brought in to serve as owner’s representative.
Our job? Help create a new, collaborative, project delivery model for Atrium Health while simultaneously delivering the Pineville Campus expansion project on-time and on-budget. We helped lead the visioning sessions, team selection, co-location, big room sessions, and the planning/design coordination. We implemented the Last Planner System (LPS) for schedule development and management and coordinated construction documents and review. The team is currently managing the multi-phased construction of the project.
The project will provide a new loading dock, expanded materials management and support services spaces, a renovated and expanded pharmacy, and renovated and expanded food services on the ground floor. The first floor will provide a new entry point for the campus, circulation connectivity with the existing hospital, and shell space for future surgical services. The patient floors utilize a decentralized, open-core care model with team care stations located along a 16-foot-wide corridor, each serving a pod of four rooms.
