Designed for sustainability and flexibility
The Oliver Bowen LRV Maintenance Facility provides additional capacity for LRV maintenance and operations and satisfy current and future fleet requirements. We designed the site and building to initially provide capacity for 60 cars, with flexibility to expand to 108 cars in the future.
The building consists of a vehicle maintenance run-through shop set up as a three-floor system, allowing for activity on multiple levels. Specialized equipment includes a wheel truing machine, LRV washing and drying facility, sand storage system, material elevators, overhead cranes, and machine shop machinery. A central core contains areas for a loading dock, material and component storage, component repair, train operator reporting, and dispatch and common amenities such as washrooms, locker rooms, lunchroom, offices, meeting, and training rooms. We provided project management and design services for all phases of this project including architecture, site planning and landscape architecture, geomatic surveying, civil engineering, industrial, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering, and transportation planning.
This facility was the first LRV maintenance facility in North America to attain LEED® Gold Certification.
