Helping on a mission to deliver a zero-carbon future
General Fusion engaged our team to design their new, state-of-the-art headquarters to support their pursuit of the fastest and most practical path to commercial fusion energy. With two decades of technology development and a talented team of 140 employees, General Fusion has put commercial fusion within reach and is positioned to provide clean, baseload power from fusion to the grid by early to mid-2030
Our integrated design team provided mechanical, electrical, industrial, structural, architectural, and interior design services from initial concept through to construction. The new headquarters houses specialized equipment and processes that required a high level of stakeholder facilitation to plan and optimize the layout to meet General Fusion’s safety and operational requirements.
The project renovated office spaces, staff amenity spaces, visitor reception area, washrooms, lab spaces, shop spaces, and warehouse spaces to support the operations. Interior improvements included the addition of a second floor, electrical and mechanical upgrades, structural isolated slabs for specialized equipment, and customized finishes for offices and lab spaces to suit the various operations.
Through this tenant improvement project, we provided a showcase space that pays homage to the General Fusion’s history with past and present equipment on display, flexible workspaces to accommodate their projected fast growth, and effective research and lab spaces to support ongoing operations.
