Design of a traffic data management system

A system combining all vehicle movement data for the island of Montreal

  • Montreal, Quebec

    Montreal, Quebec

Efficient and more economical traffic data management

The City of Montreal analyzes traffic on its territory using data from multiple sources, including manual count stations, automated count stations and automatic detection equipment. The City wanted to have a system that would efficiently manage the traffic data and reduce the cost of data acquisition.

Our multidisciplinary geomatics, information systems and smart transportation team analyzed the current situation and the City’s needs to determine the functional requirements of the new system to be developed. Once the solution was designed, a prototype was built to validate and test the program. A tool was also developed to reduce the cost of data acquisition.

Thanks to our team’s analyses and the functionalities and prototype delivered, the City can now set up a traffic data management system suited to its needs. The system will ultimately allow it to manage traffic data more efficiently and economically.
