Helping people get to where they need quickly, efficiently, and safely—with functional and seamless carparking
The Transport Access Program provides a better experience for public transport customers by delivering accessible, modern, secure, and integrated infrastructure, all the way from the carpark to the boarding point on the train station platform. Transport for New South Wales (NSW) engaged us to lead the detailed design and provide construction support to augment three existing at-grade carparks, primarily to meet disability standards but also add value over and above accessibility.
As lead TAO (Technically Assured Organisation) design consultant, we were in charge of all engineering disciplines—civil, structural, geotechnical, electrical and lighting, road design and road safety assessment, pavement design, and utilities. We designed an innovative and economical retaining wall made of soil reinforced gabions that were quick to construct, and we optimised the pavement design, which translated to significant cost and time savings for the client. By engaging the utility providers early in the design process, we avoided possible delays typically associated with relocating utilities.
The surrounding community benefits from parking efficiency, easy wayfinding, access and egress, more parking spaces, and new lighting for safety at night. Plus, a more comfortable experience and more carparking spaces means it’s an attractive option to take public transport—better for the environment.
