An award-winning parkland that connects the community with the city
Robelle Domain is a vibrant parkland site in the centre of the emerging city of Springfield. Engaged by the Springfield City Group and Ipswich City Council as the masterplanning consultant, we have been involved with the engineering design and development of this parkland since its inception.
We diverted a significant tributary of Woogaroo Creek to create space for a public swimming lagoon. This included hydraulic design, earthworks, geotechnical engineering and testing, structural engineering, and environmental engineering services. We also designed the body of water that conceals significant stormwater pipework infrastructure and conducted major flood modelling to verify its performance. Additionally, we developed a series of integrated infrastructure elements for the park including bridge overpasses, trunk sewerage extensions, major watermains, and feature lighting installations.
The park, with its natural native vegetation and creek, has been recognised with a number of industry awards and has become a hub for Springfield, with pedestrian connections between all areas of the centre. This green community refuge is a busy public space for families, particularly during the summer period when the swimming lagoon is always filled to capacity and the park hosts the yearly Christmas carols, Anzac service, and local markets.
