Improving access to health care services, like medical imaging, can improve outcomes for patients
In health care, providing access to services is key for better outcomes. The newly opened BreastScreen breast cancer screening facility provides more access to preventative screening and care services for women diagnosed with breast cancer. Our role? Delivering mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural engineering services to support three imaging rooms, two ultrasounds, one consult room, and an independent waiting room and entrance to meet the traditions and practises for First Nations people.
Collaborating with North Metropolitan Health Services (NMHS) and stakeholders, our team worked to certify the base build services functioned within the new fit-out. Additionally, we carried out water flow calculations to determine peak water load requirements needed to upgrade the incoming water line and coordinate with adjacent tenants, without disrupting their services.
With constant and growing demand for health services, we worked closely with our client to meet a tight program. The new imaging resources, built within an existing structure, now provide essential breast screening services that improve the diagnosis and treatment options for women in the community.
