Working with our team in Dunedin, Kylie is a senior transport planner committed to providing communities with better travel choices. Much of her work focuses on balancing access to multiple modes of transport, while also improving safety and amenity outcomes. Kylie is especially passionate about providing transport equity and enhancing the liveability of places.
One of Kylie’s key strengths is the ability to ‘tell the story’—a skill she uses to translate technical information to deliver key messages to diverse audiences. Some of her most rewarding projects have involved working with small communities on New Zealand’s South Island to develop solutions to address the impacts of increasing tourism and growth. Kylie also specialises in cycle network development, parking studies, and developing transport strategies and policies,
When she’s not working, Kylie is passionate about getting out in nature with her kids—together, they enjoy tramping, cycling, camping and going to the beach. With a large edible garden and four chickens, she’s keen to be somewhat self-sufficient one day.
Kylie was awarded a Certificate of Merit for Safety in the Trafinz Leadership Awards 2020 for her research, Zebra Crossing: A threatened species in New Zealand? This was a critical research intitiative into safe and sustainable design applications for pedestrian crossings, enabling a greater understanding of designing infrastructure for people.
