Lead & Copper Rule

Improving water infrastructure in our communities

The nation’s aging water infrastructure needs urgent attention. Removing old lead pipes that supply water to our homes is critical for delivering safe drinking water and protecting public health. It’s a vast undertaking, with years of planning, design, and construction ahead of us.

The EPA estimates over nine million households, businesses, and schools in the US receive water through lead service line pipes. We’re helping water systems navigate the complicated process of complying with the EPA’s Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) and its revisions (LCRR and LCRI).

The effort required to meet compliance is changing how utilities operate and communicate. Our team of engineers, geographic information systems professionals, data scientists, and funding specialists are developing comprehensive plans and processes to help you meet regulation requirements—both current and pending. Each community is different, and each will need a unique solution.

We simplify compliance through inventory development, predictive modeling, tracking, and technical support. If you need guidance to understand or implement state and federal regulatory requirements, to action corrosion control treatment, or to engage in public education and outreach, we can help.

Whether you’re navigating inventorying and planning or full-scale replacement programs, we can help—and help you manage the funding assistance to help pay for it.

We’re working with JXN Water to design improvements and repair the water system for long-term stability. This project will help bring safe, reliable water supply and drinking water back to the people, schools, and businesses in Jackson.

Identifying your water service line material

Our water engineers walk you through how to identify your water service pipe and test the pipe to determine its material to report back to your water service provider. For more information, please visit the US EPA. Read More
