Boasting 1,800 single family homes with social, recreational, and retail amenities
The Villages of Westport will soon boast 1,800 single family homes with acres of amenities featuring social and recreational activities, shopping and offices.
But first, a host of environmental and engineering services were needed to pave the way for home builders and families to follow. Stantec completed the master drainage study and stormwater management plan, key components of infrastructure development. The study included an analysis of existing jurisdictional wetlands, establishment of 100 year base flood elevations, delineation of drainage patterns, and siting stormwater ponds to minimize impacts to the environment.
Based on our studies, the team identified existing areas prone to flooding and selected flood storage compensation areas to offset any loss of storage due to development. In addition, we performed numerous hydrological and hydraulic analyses for required permits through the St Johns River Water Management District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
As the community development district engineer, Stantec developed the engineer’s report, providing estimated costs for the infrastructure improvements for bond validation and issuance.
