An affordable, high-quality housing option for low-income seniors and people with disabilities
The Tapiz at Mariposa Apartments is part of the first phase of the 18-acre South Lincoln Redevelopment for the Denver Housing Authority. This eight-story, 100-unit housing complex is located on an acre and provides residential space for seniors and people with disabilities who have low incomes.
LEED Platinum certified, Tapiz at Mariposa includes more than 50 kw of photovoltaic panels across the full roof, along with a geothermal system. The apartment complex achieved a 50 percent savings over ASHRAE standards by employing tight envelope, high performance windows and high efficiency mechanical and lighting. The geothermal was used with unit heat pumps. Outside the envelope of the building, innovative water quality and detention systems were designed and implemented. Permeable paving and other systems like porous landscape detention solutions were integrated into many areas as well.
The Mariposa community is an area working towards revitalizing its low- and mixed-income demographic, focusing on providing dignified and health-conscious housing for its residents. The Tapiz at Mariposa Apartments is one important piece in Denver Housing Authority’s vision for this neighborhood.
