When there is a need for energy infrastructure, like a natural gas pipeline, our role and services go beyond the pipeline itself. Some of those services include critical issues analysis, environmental and cultural resources field surveys, environmental impact assessment reports before construction, and advanced technical services after.

The Southeastern Trail Project in Virginia consists of 7.72 miles of new natural gas pipeline (Manassas Loop,) located along the existing Transco Mainline, and compressor station additions at three existing facilities. Pipelines are some of the most complex projects to initiate. Some of the considerations include securing federal and state permitting, and licensing support for environmental, archaeology, and historical resources.

Pipelines are also some of the most scrutinized infrastructure projects. So, we provided the client with advanced monitoring technologies, including remote sensing by satellite, to enhance safe operations and maintain compliance with regulations. Our Data Acquisition Program streamlines collecting field data by providing high resolution (50 centimeter) satellite imagery of the project in 3-band visual data, as well as near infrared imagery.

This is integrated with other aerial imagery, terrestrial imagery, reports, and field notes in our client-facing Digital Data Fusion Platform (DDFP). The DDFP gives the client a “living” picture of their project 24/7 and provides a robust artificial-intelligence-based analytics toolkit. With comprehensive assessments up-front, and a digitized data acquisition plan ongoing, our client has been able to reduce both risk and cost, while adding tremendous value and depth to their decision-making process.
