Reducing the total installed cost of a project is our goal. Virtual reality is a tool that can play a huge part in this.
Built in the 1980s, this pump station stimulates oil recovery with eleven high pressure pumps that provide the volume and pressure needed to feed the water injection system. After nearly 30 years in service, the pump station had begun to show its age—inspections had shown that the two 24-inch pump suction headers were near the end of their service life and many of the concrete support structures were suffering from chemical attack.
To extend the life of the facility, our client decided to replace the two pump suction headers at the facility and repair or replace the damaged structures. This retrofit work meant that our structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering and design teams must work together seamlessly. Our team implemented a virtual reality (VR) platform to improve collaboration, increase efficiency, and aid in reducing constructability issues.
We provided a construction package through exceptional execution that our client could use to perform the necessary retrofits, ensuring efficient operations for the life of the facility. By using VR collaborative integration, we were able to reduce the project’s total installed cost.
