Making $75 million of improvements to the Port of Tampa Bay
Located on the western coast of Florida, Port Tampa Bay is the state’s largest and most diverse seaport. To support an increase in service capacity, our civil engineering and environmental services teams performed 140 acres of container terminal improvements and expansion.
We provided site remediation, drainage improvements, paving, runways, and rail extension design for this $75 million, multi-phased project. Our efforts included the construction of new container berths, the demolition of an existing structure, and site lighting provisions. We also designed 800 square feet of wharf replacement with pile-supported gantry crane rails and an auxiliary power supply. A new security access control and staging complex were also completed.
The first phase included the completion of the build-out while phase two consisted of the backland container yard improvements. The remaining phases coincided with the expected growth in the container business. Now, our client can better serve the port communities of Tampa Bay.
