The squad in blue is going green
As part of the ongoing efforts to consolidate its urban task force, Chicago Police approached our team to design a fresh generation of police station. The existing stations were old, outmoded, and expensive to operate, and Chicago needed a sustainable solution that would support organizational goals. Our environmentally-friendly design would redefine the station setting while consolidating cops and cutting costs.
The new building would replace two existing district stations (12 and 13), changing to support the contemporary needs of officers in the 21st century. We provided architectural and interior design services, successfully collaborating with the Chicago Public Building Commission to form a 44,000-square-foot facility under LEED Gold standards. A spacious library, community relations offices, workout rooms, and garage space—the new building features modern technology and upgraded staff amenities.
Water reuse programs, waste management systems, energy-efficient technology, and a green roof: our designs include the latest in ecocentric technology. The 12th District Police Station design incorporates contemporary policing technology to become an environmentally-friendly, cost-effective solution for the City of Chicago.
