Providing Penn Medicine with the means to perform at the peak of scientific innovation

When the Pennsylvania Hospital approached us to redesign the Center for Breast Imaging, we wanted to lend a helping hand. The challenge? A medical center of this significance meant a profoundly extensive design. The project required healthcare planning, architecture, interior design, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services—and we would commission it under one completely integrated team.

The center needed to respectfully process patients, perform at the peak of scientific innovation, and service the community today for the betterment of tomorrow. Due to the sensitive nature of the facility, we had to develop a space that encourages privacy as well as healing. This meant dividing the flow of male and female patient traffic by creating separate changing rooms and waiting areas.

The suite incorporates the latest in mammography and ultrasound technology. The strategically-defined floor plan, glass accent walls, and calming color palette unite to promote a sense of comfort and security. Now, the Pennsylvania Hospital has a high-performance medical center that supports the physical and psychological well-being of those who need it.
