A resilient utility facility that can weather major storms to keep a community safe
Florida can have extreme weather events and having a reliable utility facility to keep cities running is crucial—especially when big storms increase the demand on the utility. Having outgrown the current location of its public utility operations, the City of North Port looked to relocate its utilities administration, operations, and warehouse facilities in a parcel that would allow for organic growth well into the future.
The City selected us to provide a range of planning, design, and permitting services to help identify candidate sites that will meet the utility’s needs over the next 20-plus years—and then provide necessary services to help fully realize this project. We completed initial programming steps and site master planning for a two-building plan that will house administrative functions, along with warehousing, shop space, and inventory control.
We worked towards designing a facility that meets the community’s needs while establishing resilient facilities that can resume normal operations quickly, even after a major storm event.
