Precast concrete key to efficient construction and reduced energy cost
When it came time to expand their Service Center, the City of Loveland knew who to turn to. A partner familiar with the original facility master plan from 1983 and expansions in 1986 and 1993. Once again, the City reached out to our team to help.
Our primary goal for this project was to create a durable, low-maintenance structure that related to the existing campus buildings, provided a high level of thermal resistance to reduce energy costs, and could be erected as quickly as possible with minimal disruption Using precast concrete, we were able to create a uniform building envelope with multiple colors and simple detailing, an architectural gray and white acid-etched design to match nearby building color schemes.
Designed to have a minimum 50-year lifespan and included in the original master plan, this latest expansion phase of the project adds accommodations for Loveland’s Public Works, Solid Wastes, Stormwater, and Streets Departments. It also consolidates the entire City’s services components onto one campus. The building achieved high energy efficiency with features such as insulated pre-cast concrete wall panels, radiant heating, and modular workstations with minimal private offices, earning the status of the City’s second LEED certified building.
