Designing a 6,000-square-foot skate park that caters to all levels of experience
In 2008, a youth action group began making the case for a destination skate spot. After getting their town on board, they began hosting annual fundraisers to contribute to the funding of their park. With funding secured, the Lake George Skate Park became a reality when construction started in 2015.
Unique features were added, catering to local skating/biking youth while beautifying the Charles R. Wood Park. A central planter that doubles as a grind-able ledge with banked hips and bermed transitions at every corner generate flow through the skate park. Designed to mimic popular street skating elements found in New York City, this skate park provides skaters with a safe and secure place to enjoy themselves.
Our team designed the 6,000-square-foot skate park with varying elements that would cater to all skill levels and ages so skaters from all backgrounds can enjoy the entire park. The plaza area includes seating, public restrooms, colored concrete, entry signage, a children's play space, rails, grind ledges, stair banks, transitions, and other amenities that encourage spectators and skaters to interact safely.
