Helping our client continue to meet the safety, merit, and value requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Our client contacted us to help assess toxicological and exposure data as part of efforts to re-register antimicrobial agents with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as antimicrobial pesticides (i.e., disinfectants). This process helps the client continue to meet the safety, merit, and value requirements of the EPA.
We conducted systematic reviews of published data to characterize the critical effects and exposure-response relationships associated with exposures to selected antimicrobial agents. We also developed exposure assessment strategies for healthcare and food processing facilities. Lastly, we prepared critiques of the EPA risk assessments for the selected antimicrobial agents.
Using the critically reviewed evidence on the selected antimicrobial agents, scientific assessments of workers’ potential exposures in various settings, and guidance on complex risk assessment issues, our client was able to successfully move to the next stage in their efforts to re-register the antimicrobial agents.
