Moving to an autonomous approach will help Yorkshire Water meet its performance commitment and long-term ambitions
Yorkshire Water (YW) was looking to move their bio resources business to an autonomous approach to deliver its 2020-2025 capital programme. The project was carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic through various virtually run workshops, online working sessions, and remotely held stakeholder interviews.
Stantec worked with YW to review and evaluate previous studies and initiatives aimed at realising capital programme delivery efficiencies. Upon an evaluation of the current state—including elements like pains and gains sought—and consultation on future state requirements, we defined key themes and requirements for the development of a transformation plan and benefits case. This included definition of a proposed target operating model (TOM), review of a lean delivery process and underpinning programme / project assurance arrangements, and definition of a detailed transformation programme and accompanying monitoring plan.
The collaborative approach adopted by Stantec’s project and YW’s Bio Resources management team was key to the successful delivery of the project. YW’s Bio Resources Asset Manager said, “often for a commission like this, we don’t get as good an output as we have had with this project with Stantec.”
