Merging eight organisations into a seamless delivery entity is no easy task. As programme manager, Stantec played a fundamental part in establishing an integrated alliance to deliver £2.5bn of asset improvements for Thames Water and its customers during the AMP6 water industry regulatory period, running from 2015-2020. The success of the Alliance required the collaboration of eight partners to outperform the Thames Water business plan and deliver the necessary outcomes and benefits.
Stantec pioneered a robust strategic process which; validated the high-level assumptions behind the strategic planning work carried out by Thames Water. Bundled specific solutions into schemes and programmes to deliver outcomes rather than resolving isolated risks and issues and optimised the programme to promote why investment was needed and when.
Stantec’s risk management processes have also been adopted within the Alliance to ensure that technical risks are properly assessed. Our approach has been highly effective in facilitating agreement and baselining of risk and opportunities and gaining buy in of all stakeholders. We deployed robust information and technology systems to enable all partners to work collaboratively within an integrated programme environment. We provided detailed reporting processes allowing leadership control and intervention to drive optimum project and programme performance.
