Providing design review and training to ensure current and future power needs for the East China power grid
With a population of over 21 million people—and that’s increasing daily—power production and storage demands in Hangzhou, China are at an all-time high. Our team was hired to provide design review, construction contract services, and training for the Tongbai Pumped Storage Project. The goal? Meet the city’s growing energy demands efficiently, reliably, and safely.
Located 150 kilometres from the city of Hangzhou in Tiantai County in the Zhejiang province of China, this major hydroelectric project provides 1,200 megawatts of power to the East China power grid. The project includes electrical and mechanical equipment, an underground powerhouse, and a conveyance system. Our electrical and mechanical engineering specialists were on site throughout the project, providing design review, bid evaluation, and training.
The 12 million cubic metre upper reservoir of the Tongbai project consists of an existing dam, a spillway, and subsidiary dams. Not only did our team help to provide power to the local population, but with storage capabilities, Hangzhou is protected for the future.
