Surveying and redesigning an underperforming wastewater treatment facility
When our client needed to rebuild a wastewater treatment facility (WWTF), we were brought in to evaluate the existing sewer piping infrastructure and prepare a design package for the new head works. The goal was to modify the existing infrastructure into a domestic-only WWTF that would run in parallel to a new industrial WWTF, also designed by our team.
We conducted wastewater consulting services to focus on sewer piping infrastructure and the previous WWTF modification. We surveyed the existing assets including treatment facilities and equipment (tanks, pumps, filters, etc.) and assessed quality and performance, delivering a review that included proposed corrective actions. Our recommendations included regular calibration for on-site flowmeters, the inclusion of water metering for accurate consumption tracking, and rebalancing design loads to conform with Chinese code requirements.
Our design package showed how the facility could be successfully converted to domestic-only services, which meant our client had a clear road forward to an efficient, functioning facility.
