Revitalizing an existing police headquarters to better serve community needs
The Lethbridge Regional Police Service needed to expand their operations to serve a rapidly growing community. The current facility did not have an ability to expand to accommodate additional resources—we were there to help.
Our team provided design services for the addition and renovation of the existing Lethbridge Regional Police Service Headquarters. We renovated the front lobby to be open and welcoming, providing a clear separation of public access to secure access, and soft interview rooms and victim services were made adjacent to the main lobby to allow for convenient and secure access from the control desk.
The addition was designed to resist natural disasters and remain operational to support public safety personnel in post-disaster recovery. A new cellblock was constructed that features natural daylighting, clear sight lines, and multiple layers of security separating male, female, and youth cells. During construction, it was critical for law enforcement personnel to be able to continue with administrative, investigative, detainee management and support operations. Our team carefully phased construction and led move managements to provide clear and seamless movement of business units/staff throughout construction.
The newly expanded headquarters provides a welcoming face of the service while allowing for additional officers to serve the community.
