National Data Center Load Increase Feasibility and Design
Three of our clients across Canada were facing similar load increase requirements for their data centers, so our team was engaged to provide feasibility studies and detailed substation designs. Though each project may differ, our commitment is the same—provide each client with everything they need to efficiently meet and comply with requirements.
Our role includes the design of buildings, high voltage substations, permitting, and all other regulatory requirements. For example, in one circumstance, we needed to supply a data center with a modular power of 100 MW to 150 MW—and ultimately 200 MW—or propose another optimized arrangement and solution to achieve this. Typically, after validating the location of the station, we identify preliminary studies which could include stormwater management drainage as well as feasibility, and interconnection studies. Following permitting and application and compliance for municipal connections, we may also deliver detailed multidisciplinary substation designs.
To ensure each project is compliant, we also submit applications for authorization under environmental acts where appropriate, fully equipping our clients to meet data center load increase requirements.
