Our proactive resolution of ground issues reduces costs and maximises available land for development in Queensland
The Vantage Estate on the Queensland central coast is one of Peet Limited’s flagship projects. Composed of approximately 570 lots, this masterplanned residential community development in the town of Gladstone posed significant earthwork challenges—our civil engineering consultants were up to the task.
With major cut and fill operations required across the site to achieve livable land parcels, our team used geotechnical information to carefully model the underlying rock layers and minimise the extent of rock excavation needed. This modelling allowed the team to significantly decrease the construction costs for the client. With five stages left in the development, we masterplanned the future earthworks design to minimise double handling of material on site, again reducing costs. The masterplan also incorporated a large stormwater detention basin with a staged discharge arrangement using nested culverts and overflow weirs. Careful modelling of this helped reduce the size of the detention structure required, releasing additional space for parks and the retention of natural vegetation.
Our early involvement in creating this residential development increased the potential yield of lots for Peet Ltd. This ultimately improved the balance between the built and natural environment for the community, giving everyone a place they are proud to call home
