Sustainable and innovative communities for a growing city
Located less than 20 kilometres (12 miles) from Canberra’s central business district, Jacka is the city’s answer to sustainable and innovative growth. The all-electric community will be comprised of residential development and 70% open space, as well as potential for community use sites and a mixed-use center.
We’re working with a wider team of planning, landscaping, and other specialist consultants to achieve the client’s vision for a livable, sustainable urban village with minimal impact on the surrounding Horse Park Heritage Precinct’s wetland and the Elm Grove Course Homestead. Our role consisted of further developing the preliminary masterplan, providing inputs into the final estate development plan (EDP), and completing the EDP and detailed design documentation by reviewing the significant background studies. We also undertook necessary engineering analyses, collaborating with other consultants and stakeholders.
Once complete, Jacka will be home for around 1,800 people, including standard, medium, and high-density residential lots, and public and affordable housing. Surrounded by walking and bike trails, wetlands, and open community space, Jacka will merge nature with modern living, providing sustainable lifestyles for communities now and into the future.
