Valery began her career in water systems shortly after the Walkerton, Ontario, E. coli outbreak. This tragic landmark event led to a new and sharper scrutiny on water system design, operations, and maintenance across Canada. Not surprisingly, she gained considerable experience preparing Engineers’ Reports and doing design work for the wave of water facility upgrades that followed.
Now, as the regional discipline and project management leader (Toronto) for Eastern Canada, Valery is responsible for project management and delivery excellence across all water sectors. She specializes in project management for all phases of municipal wastewater, stormwater and drinking water infrastructure projects.
Valery is known for creating environments that promote trust, collaboration and creative problem solving, while maintaining a keen sensitivity for clients’ budget and schedule. Her leadership approach is rooted in her core values of advancing equity and inclusion. She believes communication is a critical skill for building effective relationships with project stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family in the local ravine, tending to her vegetable garden, and playing kalimba (African piano) in her husband’s band.
