Simon started out in the water industry 30 years ago working on projects for Yorkshire Water. Currently, he works as a technical lead for water network projects in the Leeds Docks office with a focus on water network infrastructure, leakage, resilience, and smart network projects. His roles have included technical, operational, project management, customer-facing, and consulting responsibilities. Simon has also developed project and customer management qualifications, gaining accreditation with The Association of Project Management Professionals (APMP) and The Institute of Customer Service.
He’s worked on four continents including nine years living in South East Asia. He’s most passionate about water supply, asset management, and institutional strengthening projects in places with poor water supply. On these projects, Simon aims to improve the water supply and help the local water companies provide more sustainable service. Over the last 15 years, he has had part time technical management responsibilities for Stantec projects across Africa and the Middle East, and he is currently working part time with the International Development Group as their due diligence engineer in Sierra Leone and Mongolia.
Simon has three children (two adults and a five-year-old), and he loves being outdoors, keeping fit. On the weekend, you’ll quite often find him enjoying someplace wild in his campervan: running, walking, kayaking, or cycling.
