Tom offers over 20 years of architectural experience with special focus on education, transit, high-security, civic, and laboratory facilities. He believes success is the result of teamwork and empathy—the best designs are the result of understanding the client’s historical, technical, and geographical needs.
Tom is motivated by the opportunity to understand each client’s unique operational needs, and propose a range of potential solutions through a culture of teamwork. He leads a design process that brings groups and effectively improves the lives and achievement of staff, students, and citizens. Tom takes great pleasure in working with a group of smart, talented individuals, and is especially motivated by projects that are of public importance—like the Hurontario Light Rail Transit project.
Tom is inspired by the way cities grow and gain identity though increased density—since moving to Toronto as a young adult, he has been fascinated by the city’s changing skyline and public infrastructure. He also enjoys getting out of the city to canoe and camp, and is often at the rink watching his kids play hockey.
