Julio is a designer with fluency in multiple languages—English, Spanish, Chinese Mandarin and Cantonese. With experience across many sectors, he currently focuses most of his time on designing and planning airport terminal projects. To convey the concepts and intricacies of these projects, he develops graphic communication techniques that range from simple hand sketches and clay models to digital renderings and virtual reality.
Julio believes design must always be functional and efficient but should never stop being memorable. For example, he applied this philosophy to the design of the sculptural and iconic centerpiece of Ecuador’s Quito International Airport. El Origen (The Origin) functions as a wayfinding tool and the unifying element of the airport's thematic concept of Quito’s connectivity to the world.
A passionate artist, Julio spends his free time creating abstract compositions with his camera. You can also find him snowboarding during the winter or running marathons in the summer.
