Michel has been involved in the energy sector for more than 35 years. During this time, he has worked on projects for hydroelectric and thermal power plants, as well as industrial and institutional buildings, especially in a hospital environment. He has a passion for everything that deals with new renewable energy sources.

As senior discipline leader in the electrical field, Michel coordinates a team of 60 specialists for the design of electrical systems related to building construction and rehabilitation in the health, social services, education, and transportation fields, as well as civil and municipal infrastructures.

Among other things, he participated in the project to build the Université de Sherbrooke’s Longueuil campus. He designed the electrical plans and specifications for all 16 floors of the building, and supervised the work of the technician team responsible for executing these. The project not only met both deadlines and budgets, but also garnered an energy efficiency award from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

Michel has also contributed to net zero projects like the construction of the Varennes library, a building that produces as much energy as it consumes on an annual basis.

Michel endorses technologies of the future, such as geothermal and wind energy, green roofs, and solar energy systems, where the waste heat recovered from photovoltaic panels can be used to preheat building air.
