The best part of Oliver's job? Seeing people of all ages and abilities riding bikes on the routes he’s helped plan and design. As cycling becomes a bigger part of the transportation mix, he’s proud to provide technical guidance and direction in the delivery of off-road, protected cycle facilities.
Known by other transport and urban planning specialists for his practical leadership and transparent analysis of projects, Oliver clearly communicates project recommendations to the public, elected members and decision makers. For example, on the 14-kilometre South Express Major Cycle Route in Christchurch, he evaluated options, consulted on the preferred route and design, engaged with stakeholders to understand their needs, and provided recommendations on an effective and appealing design. The result? A safe cycle route providing the community with informed, active transport options that improve physical and mental health and reduce carbon emissions.
After work, Oliver naturally enjoys spending time on his bike, and camping with his family.
