At the year-end Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) gala, Jorge Diaz was awarded the Stantec-sponsored scholarship
At Stantec, we value professional learning and development in our staff. Because of this belief, we have been proudly promoting the importance of post-secondary education for students through regional scholarships since 2012.
One such opportunity is awarded each year in Minnesota through the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers - Twin Cities (SHPE-TC) Chapter’s Scholarship Gala. This non-profit organization aims to empower and impact their local Hispanic community through STEM awareness, access, support, and development by connecting students with professionals in their community. Since 2021, Stantec has been delighted to be a sponsor of this award to a qualifying student pursuing a career in STEM.
This year’s scholarship was awarded to Jorge Diaz who will be attending the University of St. Thomas to pursue a degree in chemistry. As a translator for a local school and medical center, Jorge has been impacting his community by assisting teachers with communication for their Spanish speaking students and families as well as medical professionals for patient care. Additionally, in his free time, Jorge tutors adults working to gain competency in conversational Spanish.
Stantec is proud of all Jorge has accomplished and the continuous efforts of the SHPE in the Twin Cities area.
