Ralph Kurth, Phaedra Taiarol, and Ivor Shaw were featured in Windpower Engineering & Development to explore the future of floating offshore wind power
The energy transition is driving the development of offshore wind power around the world to provide communities with reliable clean power and prevent harmful greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from being released into the atmosphere.
While fixed turbines work well on the East Coast of the US, they will not work in most regions on the West Coast. Why? Because the water is too deep for traditional fixed turbines. This is where floating offshore wind farms come into play.
