Tuart Lakes Lifestyle Village
The new retirement village at Tuart Lakes in Baldivis, south of Perth, was proposed to offer the elderly community aged care support. The resort-style facilities would feature a new clubhouse for residents, providing function space, indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, cinema, and a café/bar.
National Lifestyle Villages engaged our acoustic, electrical, hydraulic, sustainability, and structural consultants to design the resort-style community. In every aspect, we considered optimum health and wellbeing and incorporated features such as low volatile organic compound finishes and furniture selections and above-standard ventilation provision. Environmental impact was also lowered through the reuse of industrial waste during construction, and renewable energy was introduced with accompanying long-term cost benefits. The inclusion of a heat recovery system maintains a comfortable pool-room temperature year-round and, again, leads to cost savings.
Our disciplines collaborated to achieve a 6-star Public Building v1 Green Star rating, effectively raising the bar for our client. The integrated design delivers premium facilities in tandem with significant improvements in energy use—a 66% reduction in comparison to similar facilities—and offsite water demand—a 95% reduction.
