Making the vision for the redevelopment of Shute Harbour a reality
Following our options study for the redevelopment of Shute Harbour, the Whitsunday Regional Council engaged us to deliver the detailed design of the maritime infrastructure associated with the redevelopment. We also provided construction phase services.
Our scope included the upgrades of two breakwaters and new boat ramp infrastructure. This entailed providing detailed designs for a new concrete and steel piled wharf, rock revetment coastal protection, and a stepped concrete seawall.
During the detailed design phase, we assessed opportunities to optimise all structures and incorporated them into the design solution. We also provided certified detailed drawings of the completed design for the technical specification document for tendering and construction purposes. This included a bill of quantities and a construction cost estimate for the new design by a qualified quantity surveyor.
Today, Shute Harbour is a thriving port with range of sailing, resort connections, and tours in operation.
