Penshurst Park Sporting Hub

Penshurst Park Sporting Hub is a major redevelopment initiated by the Georges River Council and intended to transform an existing public space into an inclusive, recreational parkland. It will foster a range of active and passive recreational, sporting, community, and social activities.

Our role on this project was to support BKA Architecture with all engineering associated with the redevelopment elements. We designed and documented a multi-purpose, synthetic sports ground for soccer, league, and cricket—this included earthwork, drainage, subgrades, and the final synthetic turf. For the grandstand and change rooms, we provided structural, building hydraulics, plumbing, electrical and ventilation services. The grandstand roof crust was an unual and unique design, with a continuous curved column and cantilever allowing a roof to extend over with no view-obstructing columns. This required careful consideration to maintain roof stability throughout construction.

Providing all engineering services allowed our team to be a one stop shop throughout the first two development stages. The resulting hub will support the needs of the community and improve lifestyle and sporting facilities in the area.
