South Coast poised to become the mountain bike capital of New South Wales
When the Narooma Mountain Bike Club (NMBC) received a combined grant from the Federal and NSW Governments to add 65 kilometres to a mountain bike (MTB) trail network, they reached out to us to help.
We provided planning pathways, environmental approval assistance, and detailed design work to expand the existing network. This included new facilities and upgrades for toilet blocks, carparks, picnic area, intersections, and road upgrades. We also conducted a review of environmental factors (REF) for the works, along with geotechnical assessments, drafting, and design.
While the upgrades are predominantly on Forestry land, both Transport for NSW and the Eurobodalla Shire Council were also involved for related intersection upgrades and safety concerns at the intersection of Princess Highway and Mitchells Ridge Road. This work involved a traffic assessment, pavement options, drainage consideration, and multiple landownership approvals.
Today, the upgraded and expanded MTB trails offer a variety of routes for both recreational users and the more serious bike riders who visit the region to experience the trails.
