Supporting continued defence works in South Australia
Located within the Osborne Shipyards opposite Torrens Island, you’ll find the flagship headquarters of the Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) group in South Australia. The goal for the facility? To improve ANI’s continued involvement in defence works with a headquarters and supporting facilities that were connected to Australia's naval ship-building program.
ANI wanted a cost-effective design outcome that could balance operational energy efficiency while preserving daylight and scenic views. We worked with architects and designers Hames Sharley to document a detailed energy model to identify areas of flexibility in the building fabric and support cost-effective outcomes. This methodology allowed insulation level modification to provide better performance, reducing glazing tint and improving amenity and view access. We provided a series of optimisation options, with each carefully coordinated amongst the design team to align with structural, architectural, fire, and general code provisions.
Located within a large industrial area with multiple offices surrounding it, the Australian Naval Infrastructure Corporate Office delivers high-quality office space in a convenient location. Staff are more comfortably able to collaborate, coordinate, and manage work going forward, and the space is optimised with high-performance, energy-efficient solutions.
